NeurOptimal® Dynamical Neurofeedback is a brain training method for helping the brain to stay more in the present and relaxed in life by spending less energy generating its own negative states. But your brain does not know that it is until it receives the accurate information about itself.

NeurOptimal comprehensively monitors your brain’s energy expenditure and sends the information back to it via interruptions in the music you are listening to. Letting your brain (Central Nervous System) know when it is about to change states, either an ascending or descending state. When the brain recognizes that it is wasting energy, it can learn to spend more time in the present. Relaxation is the most beneficial state for humans to problem solve, be creative and generally live life well.

Since our brains are sophisticated energy conserving systems, it has an innate capability of improving its own function when we mirror back to it, its exact energy fluctuations.

Just like regularly exercising your body, so too can we benefit from non-invasive neurofeedback brain training. Everyone’s journey is unique and we generally recommend a handful of sessions for you to get a clear sense of its benefits. Some folks recognize the benefits immediately while others take a few sessions to recognize what is happening. We generally say that within 6 sessions, you will be seeing what it can do for you.

What if I do not notice anything after 6 sessions?

We will review your Journal Tracking tool. At times we may forget if a negative state just slips away, or we may not remember what intensity the suffering was. Sometimes friends and family members will notice a change.

Are all neurofeedback approaches the same? What is non-invasive neurofeedback? Does this push my brain to change?

NeurOptimal® is so safe is that it doesn’t influence any outcome.

What does this mean?

Other neurofeedback systems have goals or outcomes they seek, usually determined in collaboration with the practitioner who is operating the equipment. To meet these goals the software will present you with tasks that you try to accomplish and when you get them right you get “points” in some way. Under the hood, the software is telling your brain to produce more of some frequencies and less of others — these are called augments and suppresses. The idea is that your brain can be pushed into learning to be more like a “normal” (or average) brain. NeurOptimal® does not work in this way at all. NeurOptimal® does not view your brain as sick or well — in fact, that is irrelevant to NeurOptimal® which is a training not a treatment. There are no pre-determined goals (such as getting well), and hence no augments or suppresses. In fact, there is no instruction given to your brain at all. It can do whatever it wants! The idea is to hold up that mirror (NeurOptimal®) and let your brain take it from there.

Do I have to do anything during the training sessions?

The interruptions in the music are what you will be hearing. That is the Neurofeedback. These are mild, the music is an instrumental that is calming and filled with nature sounds. You can use your phone. I suggest nothing upsetting or energetic. Most often people will close their eyes and rest.

Will this make my anxiety worse?

Past or future thoughts may come up as the brain learns not to focus on those negative states. The beauty of this software is that it helps the brain learn how to come back to present, peace and calm.

Is this used with children?

Yes they may want to watch a movie or color

What should I expect from my first session?

Do not expect anything, training is different for everyone and expecting something specific to happen decreases the ability to see shifts in other areas happening. Some people will notice a shift or change after the first Session whereas others may not notice a shift for several Sessions. Sometimes a spouse or family member may notice changes before you feel the change. Depending on how in-tune you are to your body will partly determine how you notice shifts. The important part is let go of any expectations and be happily surprised as you journey through the process.

How often do I do a session?

The Session frequency can be determined due to your time frame and is always determined by ‘how you feel about doing the next Session’. Many users find on session a week can bring good results. Most users will begin to feel the difference after 6 sessons.

What does a session cost and how long does it last?

Each session is $65 and lasts about 45 minutes to one hour.

The opportunity to purchase my store Nature’s Cornucopia came true in 1999!

I unfortunately began experiencing chronic fatigue and chronic flu symptoms. Long story short it was Lyme Disease. It took about 10 years with rounds of pulsed antibiotics, herbals, IV therapies, to recover. I had stopped driving due to vision issues and anxieties.  The fatigue continued………..Be still and know that I am God (Psalms 46:10)…….became my mantra.

Early 2021 I had begun an educational study group with Positive Intelligence, which taught how to discover why and how we communicate, who your saboteurs are and how to grow your Calmer Wiser brain, the Sage intelligence. These mind exercises were a form of meditation that helped to create new thinking patterns and new neuro pathways. The brain is amazingly self regulating with the repetition of mind exercise practice.  Hello neuroplasticity! Our brains are able to transform, mold like plastic, making new neural pathways given information that it needs to self regulate.

I worked from home more often during Covid and started Pilates Reformer exercise, Spiritual counseling, and  linear Neurofeedback with Coach Ed Epstein! These together gave me hope and strength during the long Covid days.

I started working with Coach Ed teaching me weekly about my brainwaives and responses as well as showing me exactly how on his linear neurofeedback equipment. I felt inspired to begin a journey into the study of the brain and how neurofeedback works. And as well how mindful meditation practices help mold the brain.

I found many different kinds of neurofeedback equipment on the market.

Then I found NeurOptimal which was exactly what I had been looking for. It offered me the opportunities to do my sessions at home AND let my brain learn how to be more flexible and resilient! This “out of the box” thinking and was develped by Drs Val and Sue Brown, long time neurofeedback practioners. Their mission is to self empower others to reduce their suffering! They had developed a system that was not a linear system but way to help the brain learn from what it had just done by showing it thru a series of interupptions in music that helps the brain to realize what it has done and then self regulate.
